This is one of the best things I can hear from Malawi. We need to hold our chiefs accountable for many things rather than using them for political mileage of ruling parties. Chiefs should be held accountable on maternal health indicators, school enrolment, early marriages, adult literacy etc. We need to empower the chiefs to come up with innovative approaches which can be scaled up. We need to reward our chiefs based on merit on social and economic development indicators and not castigating opposition parties.
