Ex-Mutharika aide Bessie Chirambo joins Aford
Bessie Chirambo, former presidential adviser on non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to former president the late Bingu Mutharika, has joined the Alliance for Democracy (Aford) which is on revival crusade.
Chirambo served as campaign director for the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) but resigned from her position in 2013 citing differences with the party leadership.
She was welcomed in Aford fold by the party’s president Enock Chihana during a political rally at Chikwawa in Rumphi.
Chirambo joined with dozens of other members who also defected from DPP.
“This is about the way our country is being misgoverned,” Chirambo said.
She claimed there were many dissolusioned people in DPP who will be withdrawing their membership in North Malawi to joing the Aford revival.
“Many will join Aford from DPP. There are many even in DPP rank and file who are teraning for change. We have the common ground and we need common action against the rotten system,” she said.
She bemoaned that fear has been the most dorminat political force oeparing in Malawi.
“Aford will again push to liberate Malawians. Northern region will remain the political bedrock of Aford,” she said.
U can’t stand on ur own.we need each other. With this thinking malawi wil nd ca not develop.work together nd make Malawi proud.
Ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Am dead! olo mutachokaaaaaa! atumbuka simungawine!!!!! Ndiponso it’s good muchokedi in Lilongwe and Bt. Muzikakhala kwanu ku Kavuzi, asaaaaaa ndatoseka buanji! Kkkkkkkkkk! Vwatumbuka ivi waaaaa!
MY FRIENDS FROM AFFORD TO NOT BE ASHAMED EVEN IF THEY CALL YOU NAMES. WE NEED A STRONG PARTY IN THE NORTH. THERE IS NO PERSON FROM THYOLO, MULANJE CHALADZULU WHO WILL VOTE FOR SOMEONE FROM THE NORTH, WHY SHOULD THEY EXPECT PEOPLE FROM THE NORTH TO VOTE FOR THEM. TIME HAS NOW COME FOR THE NORTH TO HAVE ITS OWN PARTY AND DO NOT MAKE ANY APOLOGY FOR THAT. YOU HAVE UDF WHICH HAS NOW BECOME A PARTY OF EASTERN REGION AND THEY DO NOT APOLOGIZE FOR THAT. GO AFORD GO!!!!!
Revive aford when 50+1 implemented then wa jef will know that notheners are also citizens of this nation and dpp will need those votes
chibalo I give you 100%
If the motive is to promote tribalism then it’s unfortunate. You have cited so many benefits your region will gain in a post federalism era. You forgot that cities like Blantyre and Lilongwe will be disconjested when your people relocate to Mzuzu, the universities in the South, centre and eastern region will be disconjested too. There will be more jobs in those regions as people from your region will require work permits which will not be granted. A lot of filling stations will be available for the indigenous people of those regions. Property market will go down as only indigenous… Read more »
This is the way to go! Revive AFORD, and give all parliamentary seats in the North to the mighty Northern party and surely our politicians will regain their respect. Borrow a political leaf from the Lhomwes and DPP: no party can win a seat in Thyolo, Mulanje or Phalombe unless its DPP!
#DO UNTO DPP IN THE NORTH WHAT IT DOES UNTO OTHERS IN THE LHOMWE BELT.
Only tumbukas defecting from other parties,AFORD it’s for Northerners
I am impressed with the revamping of Afford is going on. That said, I would like to think the party is positioning itself for stronger bargaining should it decide to team up with another party in the forthcoming elections because, as the saying goes, politics is a game of numbers. Afford on its on may not achieve the desired goals soon. In the event partnering with another party is decided to be the option, I doubt DPP would be the preferred partner in the light of recent negative utterance by Jeffrey and silently endorsed by the party’s leadership PP and… Read more »
Why is the party just organising its meetings only in the north? They should also try to penetrate in other regions other wise they are cheating themselves.
