Former Karonga United owner Willy Yabwanya Phiri and Marketer Wilkins Mijiga have been banned for one year from taking part in any football related activities, Malawi FA has announced.
Ironically, their co-accused Tiya Somba Banda who is also Treasurer of the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has been spared.
This clears rumours that have been circulating recently that the Fam disciplinary committee settled to impose a ten year ban on the trio.
According to a judgement released on Thursday, Mijiga and Yabwanya Phiri were found guilty of taking disputes concerning football to ordinary courts of law which is contrary to Article 68 of Fifa
Statutes and Article 47 of Fam Statutes.
But the rulling indicates that Somba Banda is clean as he never instructed his lawyer to take the election matter to court.
Fifa and Fam soccer rules and regulations clearly states that all football related matters cannot be taken to court of laws.
In December last year, the two obtained a court injunction restraining Fam from proceeding with its general elections.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
