Fare thee well: Wadabwa, Kamwendo off to Japan
Be Forward Wanderers duo of Joseph Kamwendo and Peter Wadabwa left the country for three weeks trials in Japan on Monday afternoon via Blantyre- Chileka International Airport.
The two vastly experienced players were escorted by the clubs general secretaries Mike Butao, Chriss Kananji, team manager Steven Madeira and Flames midfielder Chimango Kayira.
In his remarks, skillful midfielder Joseph Kamwendo vowed to impress and assured the nation that he will not disappoint them.
“First of all people have to understand that l have carried a Malawian flag and l will not let my nation down. Secondly to all Wanderers fans l must say l love them, l love the club and l am going that side to represent them in good faith,” said Kamwendo.
Kamwendo also urged Malawians to keep them in prayers.
In his turn, Peter Wadabwa who once played professional football in South Africa said the trip is a dream come true.
“Since I left South Africa returning home to join Silver Strikers and then Be Forward Wanderers, I think I have done better. I have been praying to go and play professional football again and I thank God for answering my prayers,” Wadabwa said.
He said he will work hard to impress and sign a contract at a club he will be tried.
Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao said the two players would undergo the trials for three weeks.
“We don’t know the names of clubs yet. We will get to know after they arrive in Japan,” Butao said.
He said the trials were part of exchange programmes the club has secured as part of the sponsorship deal with Japanese reconditioned car company, Be Forward.
“This is just the beginning as we will have more players going for trials. Team managers, coaches and other officials will also be attached to Japanese clubs for us to learn on how to run the club professionally,” he said.
The development is an indicator that Be Forward has committed to long term sponsorship with the Lali Lubani Road Side.
Under the same arrangement Japanese forward Genki Nakamula joined Wanderers in the just ended season.

I started reading this with such grin only to be wiped off with the revelation that the Nomads officials nor the players themselves know which teams will be placing them on trials…Are we serious?? Surely there must be some sort of trial agreement between Noma and the Japanese clubs involved, who did Noma agree this arrangement with? Also, for the Japanese government to signoff visa applications for these players, they need the hosting teams to confirm the arrangement of the trials with Noma and the players.. hmm! This is poor, how can the whole club send its player to a distant country and say we dont know the clubs we are sending our players to seriously?. This is slavery and not professional football or pure trafficking.
