Fodya does the double at Bullets awards
Left-back Yamikani Fodya has enjoyed a fine season at champions Bullets FC and has received both the Player and Best Defender of the Season awards

After enjoying a terrific campaign for the club, Fodya was rewarded during his club’s awards when welcoming the year 2016.
“I want to say thank God and my team-mates, they have been fantastic this season and together we played better” Fodya said on receiving the award.
“We have a great team, and I really cannot believe I have won this most prestigious accolade in the champions club,” he added.
The end-of-the-year party and awards, which sports promotion firm Sports Promo organised in conjunction with team’s management at the Bullets Club House in Mandala, Blantyre, saw defender receiving K40, 000 for the two awards.
Fodya, however, said he is looking forward for new season to win more trophies with Bullets.

PRINTING ERROR- IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE K400000.00 .
A big congratulations to Big Bullets and also to Fodya for getting the two well deserved awards. That said I think it is worthwhile zeroing in on the award amount and this, not necessarily in relation to Bullets but to the whole football community in Malawi. Much as we keep preaching that the motivation for players should be the love of the game, I dare say we are lagging behind because our players are not properly rewarded. For instance, if I were Fodya and I work as hard as he did and get 40,000 as a bonus I do not think that would motivate me. For football players in Malawi that amount should be a daily allowance. Meaning that these guys should be getting allowances upwards of MK1,200,000. For an award such as those Fodya scooped, the price money should be something like 2,000,000 per award. But then again football has not been properly marketed in Malawi to warrant such incentives so maybe I am just ranting in an empty desert.
Fodya is the best player, he deserved much than K40,000.00

K40,000? Only?
He deserves it but the money is too little for his performance. Can the management put the welfare of players first before fattening their bellies
Bravo to our dependable player, Yamikani Fodya. We adore him.
