Former Malawi coach Henry Moyo dies

Former Malawi national football team coach Henry ‘Mbwanga’ Moyo died on Friday evening .

According to his son, Kelvin Moyo, Malawi’s great football coach of all times, died  following a kidney failure at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in the capital, Lilongwe.

The celebrated coach will be buried on Saturday at his home village Mphomwa in Traditional Authority Chulu’s area in Kasungu.

Moyo will be remembered for steering Malawi team to African Nations Cup finals in 1984 in Ivory Coast for the very first time ever after beating Zambia’s Chipolopolo back-to-back

He also coached Big Bullets FC and successfully managed MDC  United.

Moyo: Passed away

After retiring from football management, Moyo was picked by former president Bakili Muluzi as his aide on youth and sports.

He is survived by a wife, Catherine Nsanjama and four children.
