Fr Benito Masuwa celebrate 40 years in priesthood

Thousands of St Pius Parish faithful on Sunday joined Fr. Benito Masuwa in celebrating 40 years of his ordination to priesthood with a solemn Eucharist celebration which took place at St Pius Parish.

The 40 year’s celebration started with a mass which was celebrated by Fr Masuwa himself alongside Fr Kanjira.

In his speech, the Parish Chairperson and Archdiocese Laity Council Frank Ngagwe hailed Fr Masuwa for serving the parish and the entire church with dedication and honest.

He said Fr Masuwa is a role model to the upcoming priests and urged him to continue serving the Lord and the church with much dedication.

In his remarks, Fr Masuwa thanked God for seeing him in 40 years, stressing the road was full of ups and downs.

He said God continue to show his greatness by keeping him alive to mark 40 years in priesthood.

“It is a pity that out of the two priests in my group, who were ordained together by the late Archbishop James Chiona, only myself lam alive. May my friend’s soul rest in eternal peace,” he observed.

Fr Masuwa was born on 7 November 1948 in Namitete and ordained as a priest on 20 July 1975.

He did his education at Kasina Seminary from 1950-1967 before going to St Kizito Minor Seminary. He also did his education at Kachebere Major Seminary and St Peters Major Seminary.

Fr Masuwa also did his education at Nairobi University, Canada and South Africa. He has Degree in Theology and Arts. He also did Moral Theology.

He has also served in the following parishes, Neno, Mzedi, Namulenga, Ntepuwa, Limbe Cathedral, Mlopwe, Kadikira, Catholic Institute, Mwanza, Januwale, Lecture at St Peter Major Seminary and St Pius Parish.
