Mika Kumbire @ 12 : So what about Mtchona Peter Mathanyula ruling Malawi? Did we know him before multi-party? All his entire life he was not in Malawi, chinabwera kuno because of his stupid dead brother Bingu Ben Phiri. Although Mr. Mwandira is in diaspora, he is Malawian and has the right to comment on issues affecting Malawi. If it were not so, then we will as well chase Mathanyula to leave the presidency to those who fought for democracy here. You are stupid just as Peter so stop commenting and exercising your stupidity here. This is no site for… Read more »

If you genuinely believe in ‘ballot-box’ democracy you should not be complaining so much about the results of a duly held election. Actually it does not matter who delivers the ‘goodies’ of democracy! But you also need to advise your ‘professionals not to wear there partisanship on there forehead’ so they can easily be co-opted by any government that takes up the reins!

This is federalism well summed up. Just look at the nations practicing federal type of govts now: Nigeria, USA, Germany etc and you wonder why someone in Malawi is having sleepless nights rejecting this great idea. Something must really not be adding up here. The best is to amend the constitution, allow regional autonomy of some sort and Peter and DPP may continue playing their politics at national level (who cares) but plz, respect peoples will and right to choice: Its time for a federal form of govt and nothing short of that wil work!!! and let the powers that… Read more »

people should really look at the NSOs numbers before spouting the BS they come out with… democracy is a numbers game but the statement that the numbers don’t favour the centre or north is a dicey statement… Its true for the north but the population difference between central and South is approximately 150 K. I encourage any would be supporters of this BS to counter check the differences in population between South and Central and then make up ur own minds if that is significant enough to support these two gentlemens view point.

I agree with you that according to National Statistical Office (NSO) the population in the Center and South is almost the same. However, if you consider that some voters (especially Yao speaking) in Salima, Nkhota-kota, parts of Dedza and Ntchewu tend to vote for Southern Region based parties, the population in the Center is somewaht depleted as a result.

If we have incorrectly reported him as having departed, we sincerely apologise to him personally and to his family. We were under the impression that he is no longer with us. We should have double chekced before making such an error ( assuming it is not true).
