Gerald Phiri Jnr to Bidvest Wits signing confirmed
Malawi national team winger Gerald Phiri Jr has signed for South Africa’s top league side Bidvest Wits from Zimbabwe’s CAPS United.
“The deal has not been finalised and I can now confirm that he belongs to Bidvest Wits ,” Bidest CEO Jose Ferraira was quoted by Kickoff.
Phiri has joined nine Malawian players plying their trade in the rainbow nation.
The son to former MDC United and Flames striker Gerald ‘Yellow’ Phiri, Papa as he is fondly called started at Mighty Be Forward Wanderers Youth and the he was promoted to the senior.
CAPS United the gangling striker and managed to facilitated his trials in Belgium.
He has joined Micium Mhone and Muhammed Sulumba signed by Jomo Cosmos.
The trio will join Robert Ng’ambi, Limbani Mzava, Gabainho Mhango, Atusaye Nyondo and Robin Ngalande who are playing for PSL teams.
Defender Harry Nyirenda plays in South Africa’s second tier National First Division.
In a related development Ngalande is set to complete a move to Platinum Stars where he will team up with Ng’ambi.
