Golfer O Cho no more: Malawi golf fraternity in grief
Grief has stricken the golf fraternity in Lilongwe following the sudden death of seasoned lady golfer O Cho, who passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.
Confirming the sad news in an interview with Nyasa Times yesterday, Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) marketing officer Julliet Chilumpha said Cho, 75 passed away on Tuesday at Lilongwe Central Hospital after a bout of Malaria.
“She had 4+ Malaria on Tuesday and was taken by her relatives to African Bible College (ABC) Clinic, from where she was referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital. She died the same day at the referral hospital, said a grief stricken Chilumpha.
According to the LGC marketing officer, remains of the late Cho are expected to be buried at Area 18 cemetery tomorrow, October 5, 2013).
She said before burial, there will be prayers at the deceased’s son house in Area 9 from where the body will be taken to Korea Garden Lodge before departure for her final resting place.
Meanwhile, the Seed-Co Golf tournament, which was supposed to take place at the LGC tomorrow has been postponed to Sunday, October 6 to allow golfers attend to the funeral of their departed colleague.
Cho will be missed by the Lilongwe golf fraternity as a charming and hard working golfer, who always strived for excellence.
Despite her old age, she won prizes in almost every golf tournament she participated alongside her fellow lady golfers.
The late Cho, who is Korean by nationality is survived by a husband and children.
