Apart from the rift between MPs and Counselors there is also intense fighting (sometimes physical) for chieftainship. In TA Mduwa (MC East) there are two families (Partson vs Sakweleka ) that for decades now have been fighting for chieftainship. The Malawi justice system failed them when it ruled in favour of wrong family (the Partson family). Villages are angry and divided. Neither of them can command respect of the people. During funerals and development meetings these two fronts fight verbally and physically for dominance and recognition. For well over two years; you still don’t know your roles? Shame on people of Mchinji from being duped by your MPs.Your fellow MPs and Councillors in Districts like Thyolo, Mulanje, Machinga, Zomba and many in the Southern and Eastern Regions already defined their roles and development is already in full swing. I sometimes wonder why an MP whose job is in Parliament critiquing and voting for bills should have a control on constituency fund.
