Gwamba switches to gospel music after attending Bushiri’s prayers

Malawian hip hop artist Duncan Zgambo, who is popularly known by his fans as Gwamba, has switched over to gospel music.

He made the revelation Friday night via social media, informing his fans that he had quit secular music.

“I would like to announce that from now onwards I will be making music for the Lord and I will have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with secular music,” announced Gwamba on Facebook.

Gwamba’s statement came hours after attending his brother in-law, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Crossover Night at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“The Lord has been amazing to me and I am a sinner, this is the least I can do for God. I hope you will still support me and may the grace of God be with you in return.

“I love you all and thank you so much for taking me this far, now it’s time for God to take me further,” he continued in his declaration.

South Africa based gospel singer Onesimus, who is under Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG), welcomed Gwamba’s decision to venture into gospel music.

He posted a video on Twitter with the caption: “CONGRATULATIONS @GwambaMw FOR ACCEPTING JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR. WHERE IS THE DEVIL NOW?? #BushiriGeneration”.

Gwamba is best known for songs such as ‘Tikakumane Kumadzi’ ‘Sindingasiye Bawa’, ‘Carina Ya Mdala’, ‘Ndiyima Pachulu’, ‘Bola Kusache’, ‘Ineyo wa Lero’ and ‘Munthu’.

The rapper started off his career when he joined the now defunct Lilongwe hip hop group Pittie Boys in 2007 and released an album titled ‘Sounds of the City’ in 2010.

He went solo in 2012 and released the mixtape ‘Ghetto Attitude’, which put him in the limelight and landed him a management deal with Transformers Music, which he later dumped to join another Blantyre stable Prime Time Media (PTM).

The artist released his first album ‘Kudutsa Pakhoma’ under PTM in 2014, before he terminated his contract and became a partner at Soul Rebel Entertainment (SRE), before he dumped it in November following disagreements with management.

Gwamba has been dominating the game for the past three years. His fans were expecting him to release his unfinished second album ‘Chako Si Changa’ which he launched a week before walking away from SRE.

Number 5- Dzambo, it is not true that Bushiri is recruiting Northeners only. He is recruiting those he knows personally and also those that know he are the once asking to join. Ask a chair za mwana wawo Nicholus Muluzi. He has joined the bandwagon. I cant remember having a Muluzi as a northener. Please do your research properly before telling the public lies
