Koma zowona. Anthu osakuwuka land is the only asset that we Africans used to have. Now the country is being sold to foreigners who are able to pay tax. So you mean if my grand mother can not pay tax and can not follow corrupt western land laws which employ major fuckery in stealing indigenous peoples land for corporate use, she will be evicted from land which her people left her as inheritance. I am still against the idea of us “natives” registering our hereditary land. And I hope there is no pressure, including peer pressure, for people to register this asset which culturally has belonged to the wider family or clan; and is inherited within. What is to stop anyone from selling their registered estate to an “outsider”, or even a foreigner, really? The reporter should have quizzed Ms Kaliati, the exemplary African country – often referenced by proponents of this bill – where this unnecessary exercise has been undertaken: so that we can research for ourselves and see how that worked… Read more »
