Ruth Tembo, originally from Lesotho, died at Medi-Clinic in Lilongwe after a short illness, Nyasa Times understands

Her husband is said to be “very devastated” by her death.

The couple had four children together.

MCP said details of the funeral will come from the family and that the party leader Lazarous Chakwera will rally behind  members to mourn with their former president.

The part officials who spoke to Nyasa Times Monday evening described Ruth Tembo as an “ inspiring person” whom they loved.

“Ruth Tembo was a wonderful woman in every way. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family at this tragic time,” said an aide to Chakwera.
