Deputy Leader of the House Kondwani Nankhumwa said the government has already made necessary official arrangements for the tabling of the bill.

“We have several bills like Land bills and financial bills but the Access to Information bill will be tabled today,” he said.

There was anxiety among stakeholders as the government delayed to table the bill as the House rises on Friday.

“No one is forcing us to table the bill because the Access to Information bill is at the hear of the DPP led government, this is even in our manifesto. This bill is not for journalists only, it is for all Malawians including those in villages,” he said.

It is expected that Kaliati as soon as the bill is tabled, it will be referred to Media Committee and Legal Affairs Committee of parliament for further scrutney following complaints by media body Misa Malawi and other civil society groups that it has been highly adultered and doctored in favour of those in authority.
