Hard to believe that the article is worthwhile electronic version both for its insights into Chilima’s political moves and for the political debate about general questions targetting Malawi that they certainly create. Good to know that something constructive could be done about Malawi.
Good analysis sure! I hear some saying he should resign as VP! Chilima is. playing safe . A rejected stone JB came into power due to Bingus death.I In case of APM being incapacitated, SKC will liberate Nyasaland due to smoth transition of power. Anything can happen acording to Liabunya’s prophecy
There are a few people world over who would truly enter into politics for the love of the people. Mostly people, especially in Africa, enter politics for personal gain and in all likelihood driven by greed. Strategically and tactically Chilima made a wrong move by responding to a call from Peter to join DPP, at a time when it was clear, even to the unlearned, that the party had a bad track record tainted by corruption and uncaring attitude towards the electrorate. In all these instances, where as the cases used provided a momentum for moving ‘pple, Chilima failed an all counts. As a matter of fact, Chilima left us more alienated and confused than before. Fokofu!

DISAPPOINTED SUPPORTER !! Ife sitikufuna nkhondo . We want a peaceful change.
This is the best analysis given with best case studies. Chilima is on the move. The style and tactics employed will shock many. Best speech ever.
Excellent analysis
To me his speech showed a political novice who can see the problem but has no clear solutions and is trying to convince himself that he can sort it. I also get a feeling of a little bit of’ kibisala pa chipande’ but I am not clear whether this is because of dishonesty , or lack of courage or lack of experience. Either way he can still contribute positively to Malawi’s development he just needs to be very clear how he wants to do that.
The problem with all the analyses about Chilima’s speech is that they have dwelt on it as if its a single act and removed Chilima from the political context (a) in which he is a player (2) both an insider and an outsider. That in itself renders his speech inept because what he did with the speech was to portray himself as a victim and reformer and hid the fact that he actually is power-hungry and frustrated because APM is not going to maintain him by his side.
