Dear Edward, the police do know the criminals very well, but they do not act because they also share the loot with the criminals. I have had my mobile phone stolen and my vehicle broken into at 2 different occasions. In both cases, the police said “we know who did this” and they arrested the criminals within 24 hours. They acted swiftly because they knew I would but them more beers next time we meet again at Kamba bottlestores. Your message in the article is clear, but the police need to do better than leaving the criminals they already know… Read more »
That’s the problem with us! Malawians, instead of acknowledging the good initiative this PRO has done, we are busy pointing out the few sentences our officer has faulted. That’s bad.

Welldone Edward, together we can win this battle, point taken, please write again – you are an accomplished PRO.
Great idea to involve the community in dealing with crime in our country. How ever there must be a word of caution that there need to be separation between the delivery of justice and political interference. Often we hear “do you know who I am?” I will call so and so they will deal with you. Government should let the police do their job without sacred cows. If we do that we will deal with the security issue once and for all.

good move. abridging the gap between the communities and police service is the most effective way of ensuring information exchange regarding criminal activities in our midst. just polish up your queen’s language though to become an accomplished PRO
