Idrissa, you started very well and I totally agree that the next election about Malawi having a better future and our country being, as Leader of opposition Jeremy Corbyn and UK’s Labour party say ‘for the many, not the few.’ Indeed, if elections were to be won because someone is young, Atupele Muluzi would have won the 2014 election. Hmmm . . . It looks as though it’s time to rewrite history and look back on the good old days when Justin Malewezi was Malawi’s popular State President. What do you mean – he was never popular, and never State President? Why was that, I wonder? Some have said that he was the best president that Malawi NEVER had. Perhaps this was because, like the article writer, he undervalued the power of emotional appeal in politics. Win over the hearts, and the minds will follow.

There are a few career politicians who are truly interested in their people. In most cases its about personal enrichment, with citizens coming a distant second. Politicians performance is measured by how smart they are at disguising this selfish notion. If it is not for greed, why then would a small country like Malawi have so many political parties, with virtually same ideology. Why do you have same politicians migrating from one party to another, spreading almost the same message. Why would political leaders fight for higher (leadership) positions.
