Malawi Anglican mourns Canon Kaswaya as they start Lent period
Anglicans in the country start the Lent period on a sad note. They have lost their own son, Parish Priest for Soche Hill, a revered clergy who has served the Church in various portfolios, Canon Constantine Kaswaya.
The former Public Affairs (PAC) Chairperson, former Head of the Anglican Diocese of Southern Malawi, Diocesan Secretary, Vicar General, and Revered Father, Kaswaya has died Tuesday February 17 2015 afternoon at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be released though un official programme seem to point to Blantyre where his wife was also laid last year. The revered Priest has died at the age of 65.
Canon Kaswaya will be remembered as a strong leader having served as PAC chair for two terms during the period Malawi was rocked in political and security malice when she just attained multiparty democracy.
Ordained Priest in 1979 Rev’d Fr. Kaswaya also acted as Bishop of Anglican Diocese for Southern Malawi at a time the Diocese was rocked in leadership wrangles. He handled the mantle to Rtd. Bishop Dr. James Tengatenga.
Lent is a period that some sections of Christianity like the Anglicans and Catholics s remember the suffering of Jesus Christ. It starts with Ash Wednesday and this year it is on February 18.

Rest in Peace my Canon. You were so exemplary in your Christian life as a Priest. You are now rejoicing with the Lord after doing his work for over 35 years. As Apostle Paul said “for me to live is Christ and to die is gain,” you really have gained (Phillipians 1:21).

Very sad RIP you will always be remembered for the good job you did during your time as a priest for Anglican church and for the Malawi nation.I believe many priests have learned and will follow your good work done.Once again RIP Father Kaswaya.
