Chaponda who represented President Arthur Peter Mutharika at the swearing in ceremony of  the new Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi in Maputo on Thursday, said he was impressed by support the new leader has received from the outgoing president.

“As a representative of Malawi, I am very impressed by how smoothly power has been handed over from the outgoing President Armando Guebuza to President Nyusi. There is also an assurance by President Guebuza to support the new government,” he said.

The minister added that President Mutharika sends his best regards to the new Mozambique leader and assures him of Malawi’s continued support in strengthening the bilateral relationship that exists between the two countries in sectors such as transport and communication.

Dr. Chaponda was among the high profile guests list at the ceremony. He represented President Mutharika who cancelled his proposed trip for the ceremony because of the worsening floods situation in Malawi.

Do not forget that President Nyusi and Past President Guebuza belong to the same party. This is the difference and George Chaponda knows this.
DPP is after JB’s blood and she knows their thinking.
The rest, as they say, is History.

THUS THE WAY MOZAMBICANS,WHEN ELECTIONS ARE NOT CREDIBLE YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE AS MANY MONTHS AS YOU WISH.MIND YOU WE CAN NOT COMPARE THEIR ELECTIONS AND OUR ELECTIONS BECAUSE OUR ELECTIONS WERE CREDIBLE AS INDICATED BY INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS. THERE IS NO WAY WE COULD TAKE SO MANY MONTHS FOR WHAT.
