The question of which came first: the egg or the chicken, is relevant here. To wit: Regarding Malawians’ practice of incessant begging, did the people learn from the Government(s) or the other way round? I am not talking about the beggars on the streets in our cities or “towns”. Rather this is about “organized” begging and about relatives who expect one to dish out paper money every time one visits the homestead.
