Former Malawi national and Bullets FC coach Edington Ng’onamo is heading for Denmark for a number of engagements including undergoing refresher coaching courses and training the youth.
Ng’onamo, who told Nyasa Times he was invited by former Danish Flames coach Kim Splidsboel, would stay for two months.
“I have been invited by Kim Splidsboel to go to Denmark and do a number of engagements such as attending high level refresher coaching course, coaching some clubs,” Ng’onamo told Nyasa Times in an interview.
The Kalibu Academy High School Sports Director also disclosed that Splidsboel had offered him to get equipment for the school.
He is grateful to the former Flames coach for making arrangements for him to travel to Denmark as the the tour would offer him an opportunity to get new ideas.
Splidsboel has invited Ng’onamo before and once facilitated a training camp for the national team.
He also arranged for professional deals for Mighty Wanderers nimble-footed player Joseph Kamwendo and Clement Kafwafwa to move to Danish clubs.
He has also donated assorted sports equipment to the FAM for the Malawi national football team.
The Malawian’s relationship with Splidsboel dates back to between 2000 and 2002 when he was an assistant to the Dane, then coaching the Flames. The duo steered Malawi to position 95 on the FIFA rankings in one of the months and earning them their first ever Cosafa cup final berth.
