Is Mtambo just copying, holus-bolus, what is is happening in the countries where his CSO money comes from? Or is he able to adapt the practices to the local environment appropriately? In other words, as much as an independent investigations body promotes good behavior, practices and professionalism in policing, such bodies are expensive to set up and maintain. A unitary body may not be sustainable, or some may even say is not a priority, at this juncture in our country. Mtambo may think this is a high priority, but tell that to the President of the country who is NOT… Read more »

No3. Understand the story content before critising it! The issue of mob justice has only been raised to stress the point that people don’t have confidence in the Police. Because of this lacking, the public cannot report police abuses to the same police or its top brass! Full stop!

May our see our country. If God does not build a house, the builders built it in vain.if God does not guard our nation, the guards guard nothing for there is no success. Malawi, malawi, for how long shall you oppress the poor? Hear the voice of the Lord. You are not better than other countries who shed innocent blood for sake of perishable things. Why do we pay tax for the office of the ombudsman? Why are malawians so obsessed with new things and structures like new commissions in particular when setups are already there? Why always demanding instead of devising ways to enhance current environment thereby avoiding huge spending? Malawi CSOs are only good at hating Mutharika the failure with their myioping way of thinking.

The story looks incoherent. Mob justice vs police brutality. At first glance one would think that the CSO are pushing for a commission where the citizens can go to complain about police brutality. But then going through the supporting paragraphs where the issue about mob justice is mentioned the reader is misled because that sounds a totally different issue. Doesn’t match with the topic sentence.

Yes that’s true they defend each other “amati iwowo ndi boma”. That is why police brutality is rampart” palibe amene angathe kumangilira belo mphaka” since we report to the same corrupt and brutal police for any grievances be it something to with their own men and women in uniform.

The idea is very good and is supported as what we see is that when members of the MPS are alleged to have wronged anyone or committed a crime they are investigated by themselves. In more cases than not the investigations are either not done thoroughly or are not completed at all. And when one investigates oneself the results cannot be expected not to be biased. It is also doubtful whether the best investigators are as of now in the MPS if what we see in this area currently is anything to go by. We for instance often hear that… Read more »
