MEJN, this is your time to tell govt to spend within our means. MEJN should be the first to project govt’s budget towards basic service delivery expenditures. MEJN should be the first to warn govt on any slacks as far ss fiscal discipline is concerned. MEJN, do you have a well analysed govt’s expenditure for the first six months of the 2015/2016 budget? Can you publish it? Do you understand the govt’s Financial Statement No. 1? MEJN is not a think tank! It is just a network for dialogue and advocacy on economic issues. Do you really know what a think tank is? A think tank would have professors, distinguished researchers working in teams to conduct cutting edge research and producing knowledge products. Show me one original knowledge product from MEJN. An example of a think tank would be Brookings Insitution (Google them)

Malawi Economic Justice Network is always commenting the obvious. Always taken away by the wind’s direction. “Mkomwe namlinga nalikoma” It is high time the Civil Society woke up from its slumber and faced its duties with passion. This is the time to tell the govt and the opposition alike to sacrifice their obscene and dubious allowances in an attempt to resuscitate our economy. I have always said that I don’t agree to pay MPs, political govt officials, presidential advisers any personal monthly fuel allowances. They’re but an abuse to public resources.
