Malawi Finance Minister stable after food poisoning
Minister of Finance and Economic development, Goodall Gondwe is still being observed by doctors , following an apparent case of bacterial food poisoning but he is in “stable” condition.
Gondwe was sickened by bacterial food poisoningl, according to Secretary to the Treasury Newby Kumwembe.
Kumwembe said in Lilongwe during the opening of the pre-budget consultation meeting that Gondwe would not be able to attend as he was “not feeling quite well.”
Medical experts Nyasa Times asked to explai on food poisoning said it is a broad term used for contaminated food that causes foodborne illnesses. Food poisoning contaminants include bacteria, parasites and toxins.

Meanwhile, the budget consultations drew huge interest from economic experts, civil society and members of the general public who attended to contribute to the formulation of the 2014-2015 national budget.
Once concluded the national budget will be presented in parliament in September this year.
Among other things economic experts want government to cut on expenses by avoiding duplicating programs and services in government.
The experts also want government to priotise infrastructure development and investment into agriculture sector so that it bring returns than spending on static projects that do not bring returns to the nation.
