Malawi foreign legion in for Algeria match: ‘No fear!’
Malawi national football team foreign based players have arrived to complete the Flames squad for Algeria encounter on Saturday.
They join training camp with the rest of the squad on Tuesday at the Kamuzu Stadium.
The foreign legion comprises Kamwendo ( TP Mazembe DRC), Limbikani Mzava, Gabadinho Mhango (Bloemfontein Celtic, SA), Robert Ng’ambi ( Platinum Stars, SA) Harry Nyirenda (Black Leopards, SA), Atusaye Nyondo (University of Pretoria, SA), Robin Ngalande (Ajax Cape Town, SA), Chiukepo Msowoya and Chimango Kayira ( Costol De Sol, Mozambique).
Kamwendo has described the Saturday encounter as crucial for the team’s bid for third appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.
“We are determined to fight all the way and win because it will shape our destiny,’ Kamwendo said.
“We cannot afford to lose at home although it will be tough.”
He said there was nothing special about Algeria having playing such high profile teams from West and North Africa before.
“There’s nothing to fear about Algeria because we have played against them before and we beat them 3-0,” he said.
Flames coach Young Chimodzi who arrived in the country Sunday from Cairo, Egypt where he attended the FIFA/CAF Conference for National Coaches and Technical Directors – 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, also said it was important for Malawi to win at home.
“We have targeted home matches to win for us to stand a chance to progress in this competition,” Chimodzi said.
“It has proved difficult to win away for us and we can’t slip up,” he added.
Malawi are on third position in Group B with Algeria leading, followed by Mali who beat the Flames 2-0 away and Ethiopia are anchoring the table after losing 3-2 to Flames.
Algeria have taken command of the group with two wins after beating Mali 1-0.
Flames face Algeria twice within two days as they are expected to play the return leg on Wednesday next week.

Lets not relax flames, even if after we manage to score 3 goals , JK, you are the engineer play soccer for business always. Ng’ambi is there and CJ are ready to unscrew the defence for Algeria.
JK stop those funny passes after Mw score one goal you always passes more than ten times but within your own half

The interesting part to me is the names of foreign based players. It seems school and even football my brothers are doing well. Foreign teams can’t just pick up anybody because he is from south Noooo. Merit
