The first thing the government did to show that this is actually not the direction the Ministry is taking was to appoint Kaliati as its Minister. We all know she is less of ICT and more of blah blah blah!
I don’t understand Malawian politicians’ shallow thinking when it comes to naming ministries: The name of a ministry does not have to reflect EVERYTHING that happens in that ministry. This is a costly and ultimately useless undertaking. Now all stationery has to be changed to reflect the new name; and just think about how ungainly the name will sound during news on the radio. Malawi has taken a right direction. Actually this is the trend in most african countries. The role of ICT in this modern world ought not to be overemphasized. Its indubitable that public service delivery can only be enhanced if we embrace ICT. This is an ‘e-world’ where even 2 years olds have embraced ICT.
