The match was Flames preparation for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea – away on Friday in Group L.

The Flames are presently third in the table, above Guinea but below Swaziland and Zimbabwe.

Flames who featured inexperienced goalkeeper Brighton Munthali in goals were the first to score in the 18th minute through Jomo Cosmos international attacker Micium Mhone.

The goal came following a nice interchange of passes involving veterans  Robert Ng’ambi and Joseph Kamwendo who just made a return after being dropped in the opening Afcon campaign matches.

However, the home side equalised in the 43rd minute and first half ended 1-1.

In the second half, Flames coach Ernest Mtawali made a couple of changes.

He brought in defenders John Lanjesi and Yamikani Fodya replacing Harry Nyirenda and Isaac Kaliati in the 65th minute.

He later rested Platinum Stars attacking midfielder Robert Ng’ambi with Gabadinho Mhango.

The Flames used a provision uniform following the missing of their luggage containing jerseys and was not recovered in time.

However, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has assured Malawians that the Flames will use their usual set of uniform containing national colours.

Below is the list of players featured against Sierra Leone.

Goalkeeper: Brighton Munthali

Defenders: Harry Nyirenda (Lanjesi), Stanly Sanudi, Limbikani Mzava, Francis Mlimbika.

Midfielder: Isaac Kaliati (Yamikani Fodya), Robert Ng’ambi (Gabadinho Mhango), Wonder Jelemani, Joseph Kamwendo, Micium Mhone.

Striker: Chiukepo Msowoya.
