Malawi in another draw with Zanzibar

The same old story, losing concentration towards the end of the game earned the Flames a second draw in a friendly match against Zanzibar on Monday.

Malawi used the game to prepare for their coming weekend first leg of World Cup qualifiers against Kenya in Nairobi.

It was Malawi’s third draw in a row after they were held to a 2-2 draw by China U23 team in their first build-up match a few weeks ago and a barren draw with Tanzania on Saturday.

On Monday, the Flames failed to hold on to their 1-0 lead, as they were forced to draw 1-1 in the dying minutes of the game.

The Flames were first to open the score sheet in the 60th minute through Silver Strikers workhorse Frank Banda before Zanzibar equalized in the last minute of the game.

Flames line-up: Simplex Nthala, Moses Chavula, Pilirani Makupe, Foster Namwela, Limbikani Mzava, Davie Banda, Chimango Kayira, Frank Banda, Ndaziona Chatsalira, Zicco Mkanda and Russell Mwafulirwa.
