Yes, the HDI may have improved but only a mad person will celebrate yesterday’s victories when today he/she is wallowing in seemingly ceaseless and embarrassing defeats. . . . You see, this statistic covers the period 1990 to 2015 (which coincided with Bingu’s era when ARVs were made accessible even by the common man and thus pushed the life expectancy, when Malawi’s economic growth was second only to Qatar). . . .
