Malawi names squad for Zambia friendly

Malawi national team coach Young Chimodzi has picked a 20 man squad that include five new faces among them Victor Limbani, Isaac Kaliati, Muhamad Sulumba and Tizgogwere Kumwend to play Zambia in a friendly encounter ahead of the Cosafa Cup to be slated in South Africa.

The Flames will leave on Thursday for a friendly match against Zambia on Sunday. The match will be played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

The Nomads have contributed five players namely Richard Chipuwa, Francis Mlimbika, Malumbo Gondwe, Isaac Kaliati and Muhammad Sulumba,

Another player on his way to the Nomads John Lanjesi has also made it into the squad.

From Moyale Barracks, Mc Donald Harawa has been selected, while John Banda and Micium Mhone are also in the final squad from Blue Eagles.

Big Bullets has contributed four players. The players are Fischer Kondowe, Yamikani Fodya, Pilirani Zonda and Bashir Maunde.

Silver Strikers duo from Big Bullets Victor Limbani and Tizgowere Kumwenda are also in the squad alongside Lucky Malata and Peter Wadabwa.

Another new face in the squad is Chikoti Chirwa.

However, some of the faces missing in the squad are that of Ndaziona Chatsalira, Dalitso Sailesi, and Stanely Sanudi and Bright Munthali.

Coach Young Chimodzi said he was optimistic of better results in Zambia insisting the squad which he has selected is capable of upsetting the tables.

“I have no doubt that we will come with good results because l have blended experienced and new comers in my squad. All these players are capable to destroy Zambia,” said Chimodzi.

Goalkeepers: McDonald Harawa, Richard Chipuwa

Defenders: Francis Mlimbika,Lucky Malata, John Lanjesi, Bashir Maunde, Yamikani Fodya and Pilirani Zonda

Midfielders: Chikoti Chirwa, Micium Mhone, John Banda, Fischer Kondowe, Ernest Tambe, Malumbo Gondwe, Victor Limbani and Isaac Kaliati.

Strikers: Peter Wadabwa, Muhammad Sulumba, Amos Khamula and Tizgowere Kumwenda

What do you think a team coached by defenders could do ‘Defending! nothing else but defending! Muhammad Sulumba this is the time to show what you are made of. I cherish you only that you joined team ya adani but you are good.

On the other hand,Zambia is taking the match so seriously as they go 4 a win.They have included the likes of Rainford Kalaba,Felix Katongo,Allan Mukuka,Nathan Sinkala and Kondwani Mtonga,among others.These are high profile players who will make Malawi have a tough time.Kalaba and Mukuka alone will cause alot of damage on the wings.
