Our cities need to be provided with modern and large libraries facilities preferably storied buildings to cater for the needs of bulging students needs and general community at large. Its pathetic to see students and members of our community studying outside our libraries for lack of space. Bad weather adversely impacts on studying. I humbly urge concerned authorities to consider expand the existing facilities or better still lobby for international aid and build much bigger libraries for conducive studying environment. Correct. The current public libraries in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Zomba and Mzuzu were meant for a small population of readers. For the past two decades, the number has increased. Indeed, there is need to construct public libraries as big as Kang’ombe Building or Umoyo House. A culture of reading books needs to be inculcated into children at an early age for the advancement of the society. But looking at the country’s priorities, it would be a tall order if those cities will ever have a four story building accommodating a modern public library.
