The suspects Elijah Wyson (23) and Yusufu Issah (23) who were working for the victim as a watchman and gardener respectively were arrested at the road block after they were found with assorted electronics in a minibus which was coming from Blantyre heading to Balaka.

The officer, who was on duty Sub Inspector Alick Nagumuli, says the suspects were found with several items including a JVC 3 CD Changer radio, one Samsung plasma screen, Logic microwave, 3 component technic and digital camera.

“After being asked to produce the receipts, the suspects said they forgot the receipts because they were just given the goods by their brother who was in Mozambique; and this forced the officers to detain the two,” said Nagumuli.

He says when they called one of the numbers which was written on the carton it was discovered that the two stole the goods from their boss’s house Kennedy Chande who works for Malawi Revenue Authority who by then was attending a funeral ceremony.

Chande told the police that the suspects took advantage of his absence and hired a vehicle and stole good.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been sent back to Blantyre where they committed the offence for further investigations as a lot of goods have not yet been recovered.

Elijah Wyson comes from Zalimu village, Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka district while Yusufu Issa comes from Sayenda village, Traditional Authority Chitera in Chiradzulu district.
