Malawi Police arrest two for savage gang rape
Police in Malawi’s eastern district of Balaka are keeping in custody two men over the savage gang rape of a 45 year old woman.
The two, Dimba Dzoole 32, and Gift Shaibu 22 alongside their friend who is at large raped the woman in turns after chasing the victim’s husband.
Police publicist sub-inspector Joseph Sauka says the incident happened during the night of 29th June, when the victim and her husband were coming from where they went to visit her sick relative.

“On their way back, they met the suspects who attacked them; and one of the suspects grabbed the victim while the other two started chasing the victim’s husband.
“After chasing the victim’s husband, the suspects started raping the victim in turns and also robbed her K4, 000.00 cash and escaped,” says Sauka .
Since then, the suspects had been in hiding until last week when the Police received a tip off and upon following the tip; they managed to arrest the two suspects.
Medical examinations obtained from Balaka District Hospital revealed that the victim was really rapped.
Police said it has been “very traumatic incident” for the victim.
Both Dimba Dzoole and Gift Shaibu come from Kaumphawi village, Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka district.
Meanwhile. Police is still hunting for the third suspects while the two suspects have already started appearing before the Balaka First Grade Magistrate court where they are answering a case of rape and robbery with violence.
