Malawi Police nab 3 over K15m swindling of farmers in Mzimba

Three people who formed a bogus agro dealer company- Chimwemwe agro dealers have been arrested in Malawi’s northern district of Mzimba where they are alleged to have swindled farmers of close to K15 million.

Mzimba police spokesperson Constable Gabriel Chiona identified the three as Moses Nkhata aged 39 Esther Mbale aged 34 and wife to Nkhata and 31 year old Isaac Saka.

“The three were using agriculture extension workers to introduce them to the farmers,” said constable Chiona.

The suspects swindled K3.5 million from farmers in Euthini, close to K5 million from farmers of Manyamula and undisclosed sums from farmers around Luvili , Jenda, Nkhamenya, Enfeni, Vibangalala and central business area in the district.

“They also duped civil servants in these areas promising them soft loans,” said constable Chiona.

The three were arrested by Mzimba central member of parliament Henry Mpofu Shaba who was concerned with the swindling which happened in his area where more than 1000 farmers were duped

Moses Nkhata comes from Mwajamanda village in the area of Inkosi Mabilabo,  his wife Esther Mbale comes from Chingala Kadoko village in the area of traditional authority Kaluluma  in Kasungu district and Isaac Saka is from Kathundu village in the area of Inkosi Mzikubola

Congrats Nyasa times for showing their faces. I do not agree with the practice of some media houses of hiding the faces of suspects. Why hide the face of ‘suspect'(s) who has been caught red handed?

Anatibera kuno ku Kasungu koma chilungamo sichinaoneke.They just corrupted all who were handling thier cases.And there were set free just imagine.Prosecutors from Mzimba just ask from kasungu, the truth will be known.Abale how can we trust our law enforce.Corruption at its best guys.

These thieves also stole some money from civil servants here in Kasungu in the name of soft loans.Ask staff members from Kasungu Hospital.No body knows how the case was concluded by the court.We cannot rule out corruption by law enforcers

Tribalism comments makes me. Who told u that any of u so tribes are greater than the other .Have u forgotten that all of us came outside this country for instance Mozambique,
.Zambia ,South Africa, Zimbabwe and other countries .So why must u kill each other over supremacy of tribes.
