Malawi Police shoot, kill armed robbery suspects
Two people believed to have been on a armed robbery operation at Kaunda Puma filling station in Lilongwe were shot dead by Malawi Police officers after they exchanged gun-shots and other two were arrested.
Police, acting on a tip off, had the suspects on surveillance and rounded them up as they wanted to rob cash from attendants had accumulated from sales overnight between the newly-constructed Lilongwe West By-pass Road roundabout and Gateway Mall.
Commissioner for the Central Region Demster Chigwenembe said two died instantly and one managed to escape. Two other suspects were successfully arrested and are currently in police custody.
Chigwenembe identified those arrested as as Ngalande Kapalamula, 40, from Chinkombero Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Malili in Lilongwe and Howard Chazemba, 41, of Smith Village, T/A Malili, but based in Area 23.
They were found with an AK 47 assault rifle with 18 rounds of ammunition, a sharp axe, one shock stick, Valium and 20 meticais.
Police continue to investigate and more details on this incident and the previous robberies will be available at a later time, police said.

Congrats police. This isa what peace loving Malawians have been asking for. Of course where possible, as you have done in this cxase, arrest one or two so that they can devulge reveal details about their accomplices both dead and living. Once again keep it up. No mercy with these guys once they find you in the house, they sometimes hit you to kill in order for them to instill fear in you so that you give them what they want. They deserve stiff punishment though the best would have been to disable them as oppose to kill instantly. If disabled, they may pose a good lesson to others would be perpetrators/offenders.
