Malawi Queens wins Africa Netball Championship

Malawi Queens have successfully defended Africa Netball Championship title at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania after beating Lesotho 58-19.

On their way to the finals, Malawi defeated hosts Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

True to Malawi head coach Griffin ‘Zagallo’ Saenda, the Queens marched h on to glory without losing a single game.

By defending the title of the tournament sanctioned by the International Netball Federation (IFNA), Malawi will maintain its international rankings as the continent’s number one side.

“Its fantastic to defend the title and make the nation proud again,” Saenda told Nyasa Times.

“The is a bright future in the squad which I have assembled and our focus will now be to conquer the world,” he added.

Malawi were favourites to win the tournament.
