Malawi receives 11, 000 footbballs from Jack Brewe Foundation, OWFP

Representatives of the Jack Brewer Foundation and One World Foodball Project are in Malawi to distribute the 11 000 footballs they have shipped into the country.

The delegation arrived in Malawi on Tuesday and headed straight to serious business. They have had meetings with the Ministry of Lands, Housing, Trade and Sports.

Jack Brewer, who is leading the delegation, told Nyasa Times that the team comprised of different professionals is in the country to look at the best way the two organizations can help Malawi get out of the economic challenges it is facing today.

“As you are aware I first fell in love with Malawi in 2006 when I got connected to President Banda and I have always loved this country,”  Brewers, who has over the years shipped various many containers of essential to Malawi through the Joyce Banda Foundation.

Eric Frothingham of  One World Football Project said:“We at One World Futbol Project are tremendously excited at the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of youth in Malawi through the distribution of Chevrolet-sponsored One World Footballs to community organizations – and we are grateful for the support of President Joyce Banda as well as Jack Brewer and JBF Worldwide in making this possible.”

Executive Director for Joyce Banda Foundation Edith Arkridge told Nyasa Times in Blantyre that the coming of the footballs is a major boost to football discipline in the country.

“As you are aware, there is a greater need for better footballs in Malawi, and the football is a game that is hugely loved in this country, I know of many people that lack proper soccer balls, this is the request answered to them” said Arkrige.

Speaking when they  showcased the ball to the Minister of Sports in Lilongwe, Timothy Jahnigen  who invented the “One World” soccer ball spoke highly of the ball.

“It is a soccer ball that has the same size and weight as any other soccer ball but the exceptional thing is that it doesn’t need a pump and it never goes flat, it’s a soccer ball that was made to be played on turfs, bare ground s and on the street” said Jahnigen.

Sports minister Enock Chakufwa Chihana has hailed the delegation for the donation and all it continues to do in Malawi.

President Joyce Banda hosted the delegation to dinner at Sanjika Palace on Thursday.

Joyce Banda Foundation has meanwhile organized a soccer match between Azam Tigers and Wanders Football club where ‘One World’ soccer ball will be showcased. President Banda is scheduled to attend.
