Limbe Police identified the deceased as Lumbani Namba, who was working with the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA).

He left a suicide note of which the law enforcers declined to detail its contents.

But sources told Nyasa Times that he had been quarrelling with his wife over marital issues for the past two weeks.

“He was one of the senior officers at the Domestic Tax section. It’s not true that he was being investigated at MRA. But his neighbours told us that he has been quarrelling with his wife and other relations over marital problems and could quarrel up to midnight.

“It’s unfortunate that people are saying this and that. He is gone and nobody can provide answers or explain why he committed suicide other than himself; so people will continue speculating,” said one of the sources, also working with MRA.

It was earlier speculated that he started quarrelling with the wife following revelation that he was not the biological father of the three children he was made to believe were his when was reportedly impotent.

Namba will be laid to rest on Wednesday, December 9 2015 at Kameza.

I feel for the wife. imagine this was your sister, daughter, mum or even you! your partner suddenly commits suicide! I can’t start to imagine the pain she is going through and has to bear for a very long time to come . the least people could do is stop kicking her when she is already down I also feel for the man. what a life lost! what a resource wasted! and how sad to think that whatever he was experiencing was so unbearable that he resorted to taking his own life. After all is said and done, God only… Read more »

He is gone and no piece of advice can be useful to him now . But those of us who are going through various problems in our families, must realize that there are better ways of resolving them other than taking away our own lives as that action creates even more problems. what do you think your children will think about you? As a loving father after terminating your life when they need your support most? surely NO.

Man, why killing yourself? Women nowadays do not respect marriage. They are alwez after money Look now, whatever you have left will be hers and your brothers, sisters and parents will have nothing but tears for you. she will be bonked right on your marital bed with other guys. Why didn’t you just leave the home for another woman??? Akazi onsewa akusowa amunawa??? Did she have a vagina where you were extracting minerals? Crude oil? I fail to understand……

the issue here is that Lumbani was twice found at chez with prostitutes and the wife was told about it , hence the quarrel otherwise the wife is not at fault here, this man was womanizing all over town, do you think the wife had no reason to confront the Husband on such issues?
