The fight against corruption can never stop (even if it feels much like a Sisyphean task)

Funzo (No. 2) You are absolutely correct in your assessment of the situation and its solution. The manner in which democracy is managed in Malawi does not aid the country’s development. In fact there is little or no democracy. The President behaves like a dictator and attempts to stifle all criticism and opposition. He demands deference and respect without earning it and just because he is President. He surrounds himself with sycophants, boot-lickers and ‘yes-men’. This problem shall not come to an end because we malawians are stiff necked. We proclaim to be the warm heart of Africa, so is this happening only to whites because they bring us invisible forex?Indeed!Malawi is indirectly being rulled with an iron fist.People in the rural areas are ignorant of what is happening and the organisation have no time to sensitise them but they proclaim to reach the rural areas. The government and national NGOs such as NICE are not effective. Therefore,it is very difficult to deal with the problems malawi is facing. His government should learn to be considerate.

Please hold the bull by its balls. You should have gone to the police and report and not tell us this scrap we already know. What did you do differently? The same old song of yep yep yep! Next please hold the bull’s balls as some do not have horns.

Well written story. Malawi’s troubles will not end and development not be achieved until the culture of deference to ‘superiors’ ends. There needs to be accountability of employee’s actions and the end of appointment by favour rather than ability. It doesn’t help that the president has too many powers, something we were told would be curtailed!
