Malawi teacher defiles, impregnates two pupils
A teacher at Central Primary School in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota District who has allegedly been defiling two of his teenage pupils, is in trouble as both girls are pregnant of him.
The suspect, Lemon Kapusa, 26 is currently in custody at Nkhunga Police station for defilement contrary to section 138 of the penal code.
The pupils (names withheld), both from the same school which is located at Dwangwa Illovo Sugar Company are aged 14 and 15.The 14 year old is in standard 7 while her pal is in standard 6.
Public Relations Officer for Nkhunga Police Austin Kaunda, confirmed the development to Malawi News Agency (Mana) Thursday saying their investigations revealed that the girls were friends and were repeatedly defiled together in the teacher’s house.
The girls told Police that they were sleeping together with the teacher who had sex with them in turns in his bed.
The PRO expressed concern over the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school which buried the story to protect the teacher.
“Sofia Glem, a mother to one of the girls told us that she was aware that her daughter was having an affair with the teacher only that the PTA shouted at her when she forwarded the issue to them. They blamed her for wanting to tarnish reputation of teachers at the school,” said Kaunda.
Glem further told the police that when she realized that her daughter was pregnant and the teacher was responsible, she went with the child to the teacher’s house and left her there.
“A week later, the teacher informed the parents of the other girl that he had an intention to marry their daughter in future, this then forced her parents to investigate the matter only to find out that their daughter was also pregnant.”
“After realizing that the girl was expectant, they also took her to the teacher. This then, alarmed members of the community who reported the matter to Police,” he explained to Mana.
The 14 year old girl is four months pregnant while the other one is two months expectant.
Police are therefore appealing to the public to report to them when such incidents occur in their area.
