Man arrested for defiling neighbour’s daughter in Balaka

Reports of defilement cases are refusing to die in eastern Malawi district of Balaka district despite several arrests and penalties imposed on the culprits.

The district’s police publicist sub-inspector Joseph Sauka told Nyasa Times the 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling an 8-year-old girl of his neighbour.

Sauka says the suspect Davie Mkolimbo defiled the girl after her mother went to the market.

“Upon her return from the market, the victim was not found at home and after calling her, the victim was seen coming from the certain uncompleted house near her house and her mother was surprised to see that the victim had dust on her back,” says Sauka.

Sauka says the victim revealed to her mother that she was defiled by the suspect “and the issue was reported to Police who arrested the suspect.”

Medical report from Balaka District Hospital revealed that the victim was really defiled.

Meanwhile, the suspect is in Police custody and is expected to appear before court soon where he will answer a case of defilement which is contrary to section 138(1) of the Penal code.

Mkolimbo comes from Bauleni village, Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu district but was residing in Balaka district.
