Man arrested for killing own mother
Police in Malawi’s eastern district of Balaka are keeping in custody a 26-year old man for allegedly killing his own mother.
The district’s police spokesperson Sub-Inspector Joseph Sauka, the suspect, Jawadu Mzito 26, who is a psychiatric patient, killed his mother Hawa Ajaru Mzito 44 last Friday after the two picked a quarrel over a bucket.
“The deceased took the suspect’s plastic bucket to draw water a development that did not please the suspect who started beating her and the deceased fell to the ground after being kicked and died on the spot,” says Sauka.
Sauka said Post-mortem conducted at Balaka District Hospital revealed that death was caused due to internal breeding.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Sauka says, is still in Police custody waiting to be taken court before being taken to Mental hospital for treatment.
Both the suspect Jawadu Mzito and the deceased Hawa Ajaru Mzito come from Mitochi village, Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka district
