Manyozo Jnr banned for four matches: Wanderers fined K0.5mil

Mighty Be Forward holding midfielder and Captain Alfred Manyozo Junior is expected to miss the rest of the 2017-18 first round matches after receiving a four match ban from the Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

Alfred Manyozo ; Suspsended

Manyozo was found guilty of inciting crowd violence during a Carlsberg Cup match involving the Nomads and Blue Eagles Football Club which was played at the Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on 12th August 2017.

“Mighty Be Forward Wanderers Football Club Captain Alfred Manyozo was found guilty of inciting crowd trouble as his actions protesting a referees decision led to the throwing of objects into the pitch. In line with Article 24.21 of the 2017 Carlsberg Cup Rules and Regulations, Manyozo is banned for four matches,” reads part of the verdict  released by FAM signed by its C.E.O Alfred Gift Gunda.

Wanderers Club was also found on the wrong side of the law for failing to take precautionary measures to control their supporters from throwing objects into the pitch and towards the Assistant Referee during the encounter.

“This disturbed the normal flow of the match as  the match was stopped for five minutes thereby bringing the game of football into disrepute.

“In line with 24.21 of the 2017 Carlsberg Cup Rules and Regulations, Be Forward Wanderers Football Club are fined the sum of K500,000.00 to be paid before the team’s next fixture” reads the statement in part.
