Mbulu, Chande named in provisional Malawi squad
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has released names of players to go into training camp in readiness for the forthcoming coming African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying tie against Zimbabwe as well as the Cosafa Cup scheduled for next month.
The Flames face the Warriors of Zimbabwe away in the first week of June before heading to Namibia where this year’s Cosafa Regional Tournament will be hosted.
But Fam has secured a friendly match against the Zebras of Botswana which according to Fam General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda the match will take place on 29th June at the Francis Town Stadium.
In the squad, FAM has called up unheralded Mafco striker Richard Mbulu and Be Forward Mighty Wanderers match maker Jafallie Chande.
Mighty Be Forward Wanderers and their traditional rivals Nyasa Big Bullets have contributed six players each, Mafco has contributed three, Silver Strikers two while the league leaders Blue Eagles have only contributed goalkeeper John Soko.
Nine out of all the selected players are professionals namely Charles Swini-HB Songo, Gabadinho Mhango-Golden Arrows, John Banda and Schumacher Kuwali-Ferraiviaro de Nampula, Harry Nyirenda-Black Leopards, Joseph Kamwendo-Liga Mulcumana and Gerald Phiri Junior-Bidvest FC.
Atusaye Nyondo, Robin Ngalande, Veteran Esau Kanyenda and Zicco Nkanda have all been left out.
Experienced goalkeepers duo of Richard Chipuwa and Simplex Nthala have also been dropped.
That squad will be whittled down  before the Botswana game.

I thought Lucky Malata’s recent form should have warranted him at least a call up? Is there any under 23 team so that players like Duncan Nyoni, Thuso Paipi, some youngsters from EPAC and some promising players from lower leagues gain the much needed experience? I cry my beloved country.
