To me rooting out corruption means removing DPP from power. DPP is the axis of corruption in Malawi. If they were serious in fighting corruption they could have strengthen the governance institutions like ACB. At the moment ACB is at its lowest in term of strength. The Director himself has deliberately gone to sleep to pave way for Chaponda and his accomplices to steal from Malawians through dubious maize purchase. We will continue to see corrupt practices as long as DPP is in power.

MCP . . . “has said the major problem in the country is corruption and has called on President Peter Mutharika to root out the evil.” This will not be easy as nobody seems to recognize where the roots of our corruption lie. When corruption has become a deep rooted network, it prevails everywhere. At its level in Malawi, it simply indicates that it started some 40 years ago;just very difficult to eradicate it by lip service.Chakwera said it that all previous governments have failed to remove it and added that there is no one person with gravitas to correct it.
