Orgnisers of the 2016 Miss Blantyre beauty pageant announced this week that it will hold the auditions for Miss Blantyre 2016 on Saturday 24th September 2016, at Malawi Sun Hotel.
Chairperson of the organising committee Daniel Ngwira said the aim of the auditions is to identify qualifying girls to contest for the 2016 edition of the glamorous Miss Blantyre Beauty Contest.
“Through the auditions, we believe we open up a door to all young, beautiful, ambitious and aspiring young girls to a rare opportunity to become the next big thing for Blantyre city and Malawi at large,” said Ngwira
This year’s pageant theme is ‘keeping the Girl Child in School’ and according to Ngwira it is expected that all interested ladies should have interest in education, having studied to a minimum of an MSCE, and willing to inspire and support struggling girls in school.
“For the past few years, Miss Blantyre has transformed into a major brand and a national property and we believe our contestants take delight to occupy this space and shine and be ambassadors for young girls,” he said.
He said as one way of spicing up the event they will be a photoshoot for free for all contestants, a beauty clinic and an education spot for all the girls.
“As organisers, we are also very impressed by the level at which parents have supported some of the contestants that have already registered and we believe other parents will also support their daughters with an ambition to be the city’s next queen,” said Ngwira,
“We are calling for girls that are aged 18 to 25 and we do not need any prior experience because as a pageant we are ready to train, develop and transform our contestants into the best in Malawi” added Ngwira.
The Miss Blantyre contest takes place at The Comesa Hall on the night of Friday 4th November 2016.
