ICAM and its predecessor, SOCAM, have done much to promote accountancy in Malawi. However, greed on the part of ICAM and the Malawi Accountants Board (MAB) threatens to stifle further growth in the profession. Without justification, and sometimes without legal backing the two bodies seem to be competing to see who can collect the most subscriptions from members and even students of accountancy.
