Msungama resigns as Bullets chair: Supporters broke into club offices

Barely a day after a section of Bullets supporters demanded the resignation of their club entire Executive Committee, Club Chairman Kondi Msungama has finally thrown in the towel and announced his resignation.

Msungama: I quit

Msungama revealed on Tuesday that he has no choice but to pave way for others who can do better than him to come in and serve the club.

He said the demand by the supporters through the media that he steps down is a clear indication that the Bullets family no longer has confidence in him and his committee.

“The writing is on the wall. If a chairperson of the main supporters committee demands your resignation in public then it translates to vote of no confidence and for the betterment of the team, I have regrettably accepted the call to resign; we can’t just go on like this” Msungama explained.

He further admitted that his decision has been reached upon to show the people that “no one is bigger than the club”.

Msungama has however called for cease fire on internal wrangles that have rocked the Bullets camp but rather advise the team to concentrate on their crucial CAF second leg assignment against Sudanese champions Al Hilal.

According to Msungama, his major achievements has been ending the cup drought at the club by winning the TNM Super League championship last season whereas failing to secure sponsorship is what he can describe as a major shortfall.

He further said he will always be a Bullets fan and always available for advice if a need arises.

Office invasion

In what can be described as an American movie, unidentified group of people allegedly to be Bullets fans on Monday twice stormed Bullets offices where they went away with some office equipment as one way of forcing the executive to resign.

Bullets Head of Marketing Dan Mbebuwa who by the time of the incident was in the office described the act as inhuman and fierce attack.

“I just thank God that I was not harmed. This is a straight forward police case” said Mbebuwa.

He however revealed that he can recognize faces of some of the people that were involved in the attack.

“They were over ten in number but if I can see their faces, I can be able to point them out. One of the guys I noticed was one who is popularly called Billy One; I don’t know whether it is his official name or just a nick name” lamented Mbebuwa.

According to Mbebuwa, the fans went away with some files containing the club information and printers but some well wishers managed to stop them from going away with furniture.

He also claimed that they went away we cash amounting to over K2 Million meant to carter for the referees to officiate Bullets and Al Hilal match this Sunday.

It’s sad that Dan has decided to take advantage of the situation and steal 2 Million kwacha. It’s the same Dan who brought a musician from outside Malawi and failed to pay her/him mpakana munthu kumapemphesa transport yokuti azibwelera kwao. Where do u get people like him to run the affairs of a struggling entity like Bog Bullets? U have brought shame on our beloved team. Entering CAF was a big mistake. Anyone with the right senses knew this was going to cost bullets a lot. Now they have stollen all the money that had been raised and they have… Read more »
