This is a very good development for Malawians. Next time consider the Limbe to Nsanje rout to be maintained as it was the last transport for the poor people leaving around the area where rail passes through. They were able to sell their farm produce in town using the cheapest rail rout. Otherwise we welcome all these development

What is the government of Malawi doing about reconstruction of the Limbe Nsanje, Beira railway line. When this line was operational, goods in Malawi used to be very cheap. This is the shortest distance to Beira less than 400km , the train carrying hundreds of tones of goods on a turn around trip of two to three days compared to the Blantyre OR Lilongwe Tete Changara, Chimoio then Beira route of 800+ km, the trucks carrying a limited tonnage on a turn around trip of almost a week.

The headline is misleading. Truly speaking,. this is not a Malawi railway line project. Angodutsa nawo a Mozambique. Mozambique is the one which is going to benefit immensely from this project.

Good Vision Jappie but let’s also do our Southern – Nakhanga Route we want have farm products from Chikwawa and Nsanje – The other thing Mr. Jappie try again to negotiate with these Mozambique guys we need the Nsanje Port to be opened, use the gimmick of give and take scenario – they transport their Coal via our Country to Beira, and we transport our goods to & from Indian Ocean. If they continue refusing we should also refuse them to transport their goods via our country full stop. Osawanyengerera anthu amenewa.. this is our land.

We have a viable line from Blantyre to Chipata, yet our Carlsberg Brewery and other companies do not use this line instead Carlsberg trucks ferrythe beer/soft drink crates ! The line is up to Carlsberg Lilongwe depot at Kanengo one wonders why not use the line. The use of this can attract other users to follow suit. Wake up Malawi
